Abstract
In the last years a very extensive literature on business statistics and data mining has been growing. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the Italian case. Statistical education at university level and firms' attitudes and difficulties as regards stochastic knowledge and uncertainty are considered and difficulties in the diffusion of statistics within firms are sketched. Then, some purposes are considered in order to improve statistical knowledge and capability of implementing in business solutions.
