Abstract
This paper describes the physical and electrical models which were developed for a driver amplifier realised on gallium arsenide and an electro-optic modulator on lithium niobate. The performance of a combined 40 Gb/s driver modulator design was investigated bearing in mind the additional degrees of freedom allowed in the design of integrated components.
